Morra Gambit ...Bd7
The big problem with the Morra Gambit is that Black has so many reasonable defences available. One of them is playing ...Bd7 at some point.

Mayhem in the Morra.
I have owned the book by Mark Esserman for only a few days.

Interesting line in the Morra gambit
1.e4 c5 2.d4 cxd4 3.c3 dxc3 4.Nxc3 Nc6 5.Nf3 d6 6.Bc4 a6
After these moves the normal set up with 0-0 and Qe2 is not good because Black still has Bg4. The main line is 7.0-0 Nf6 8.Bg5 e6<br ... Started 03/21/05 at 10:50:14 by Lobachevsky |

morra gambit in the schvennigan (spelling?)
I was wondering since I don't have a database of games if the move order 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 e6 3.d4 cxd4 4.c3 dxc3 5.Nxc3 Nc6 and then you enter the older Smith Morra where the position is sharp but chance...

A new look at the Smith-Morra
Some one has to start something on this line.
I am interested in hearing what you black players play against it? For white i want to hear what system you fear the most if any and what system... Started 11/27/05 at 23:35:34 by basqueknight (Ex Member) « Pages 1 2 all » |

Morra: News since Langrock's book!
The line 4.Nxc3 e6 5.Nf3 Nc6 6.Bc4 a6 7.0-0 Nge7 8.Bg5 f6 is probably GM and IM favorite weapon against the Morra.
After 9.Be3 b5 (if 9...Ng6 10.Bb3 intending Na4)10.Bb3 Ng6 Langrock 's book rev... Started 05/06/07 at 12:02:21 by Dji |
