This line is advocated in Dangerous Weapons, 1...e5, if my memory of a recent trip to the bookstore is correct.

Hi all. Its about this Line: 1.e4-e5 2.Nf3-Nc6 3. Bb5-a6 4.Bxc6-dxc6 5. 00-Le7(!) 6. Nxe5- Qd4 7. Qh5-g6 8. Nf3-Qxe4 9. Qa5

I guess 5...Be7 is relatively new move, i just could find 5 Games. Can u help me , maybe even with an advise in this Line ?

Regards

New in Chess Yearbook 82, p.117 "An old way to get sophisticated play" - an article by Efstratios Grivas

his conclusion: "It seems that Black is doing well ... , but this can hardly be considered a success, as Black seems to do well in the Exchange Ruy Lopez anyway!"

Grivas recommends to look at Ivan Sokolovs games as model illustrations how Black should play against the Exchange Ruy Lopez.

To follow a bit on Kylemeister's quote above:

5. ...      Be7
6. Nxe5      Qd4
7. Nf3      Qxe4
8. Re1      Qf5
9. b3!?      Nf6
10. Ba3      Be6
11. Nd4!      +=

It doesn't have a name that I know of, and it's hardly new; Fischer had a bit of discussion of it in his book 40 years ago (citing Malesic-Reshevsky, Maribor 1967).  Fischer thought it was bad, and that White should play 6. Nxe5 Qd4 7. Nf3 Qxe4 8. Re1.  In the 1990s ECO thought 6. d3 (which has been played by e.g. Leko and "Mr. 4. Bxc6" Rozentalis) was best and should lead to a slight advantage for White; I have the impression that that may still be accurate.
