Maybe you will in a few months! The nice thing about the Kalashnikov (I mention this in the intro, but it might have gotten cut out in the excerpt) is that Black really gets the choice as to whether or not he wants to play a protracted maneuvering middlegame or something more violent, e.g. the early 6.c4 with ...f5 lines.

Thanks again.

Congrats on a great achievement.  I don't eat enough red meat to play 1.c5, but will look out for it at my local B&N and pick up a copy.

Yeah quite an amazing game.

Thanks for the kind words - I hope that readers still find it enjoyable when they're about half way through the nearly 500 pages of it...

Never realised that La Bourdonnais game was in this stuff. Nice thing to have for an introduction Smiley

The exerpt does indeed seem to be very readably written. Hard to achieve with chess books that and very commendable.

Great news, Tony, and thanks for the kind mention!

I've been honing my anti-Sicilians in readiness and practising the Kalashnikov in our post-club casual games in the pub, where it almost always manages to 'cause trouble', even in my hands! I can't wait to get my mitts on the book!

464 pages when all was said and done - quite the tome. I am giving it a final look-see, and at the latest the book is off to the printers by the end of next week. Cheers!

And it even has a bibliography. Congratulations!

I thought you'd like that Stefan. Wink

It's funny - the intro was so long they couldn't give the whole thing out with the excerpt.  Shocked

I also found their apparent level of excitement over the foreword (perhaps because I'm a chess nobody) humorous - they updated the website (it's in bold), they put it on the title page, etc.

...But is broken. I'd presume that it will be up soon - keep checking!

Small update for those interested - the book is through editing and type-setting, and looks fantastic. 464 pages when all was said and done - quite the tome. I am giving it a final look-see, and at the latest the book is off to the printers by the end of next week. Cheers!

Indeed, Sveshnikov's position in that game was crushing! In my book I gave a very brief overview of the theory on 8...Nf6, and thought that 12.Ne3 Be7 13.Bd3 0-0 14.0-0 Bg5 15.Nd5 was a tiny bit better for White. This wouldn't stop me though, as the position is very thematic and White's edge is very small - I just thought the queen was probably somewhat misplaced on g6.
