Interesting game, I wouldn't consider Carlsen's Rfe1 that much of a sideline. I see that line almost as much as the f push Qd3 stuff.

Nice to see Carlsen play the same line I do... normally it's Radjabov playing my moves! Smiley

I think this line is a good one for white.  Some chances for small edge, no big problems.

Game played today. I hope that Ward or Jones annotates this game. White won but it had nothing to do with the opening, i fact Carlsen played a less critical line, Radjabov entered an equal endgame, made a few mistakes, white got the better position and Radjabov missed some drawing chanses in desperate time when he was behind about 40 minutes.

I am not a subscriber to the Dragon section but I am currently studying it on my own.

What are your general thoughts about the following?

8.0-0 0-0 9.Nb3
8.0-0 0-0 Bb3
8.0-0 d6 9.Nb3 Qd8

I'm a Dragon section subscriber and I would like to see more of the 7...Qa5 Accelerated Dragon also.  Nigel Davies recommended the line for his Accelerated Dragon DVD for Chessbase.  Maybe if he isn't busy...

B35: Accelerated Dragon with 7...Qa5

I have subscribed to the Dragon section from the beginning and really appreciate Chris Ward's annotations, but it seems to me that the choice of games is sometimes rather odd and that some important games are missed.

I think that the Accelerated Dragon, and especially the line with 7...Qa5, has been somewhat neglected, probably because Chris himself has been more interested in the main-line Dragon and the Reshevsky Variation (aka Dragadorf).

I am referring to the "Anti-Yugoslav" line 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 g6 5.Nc3 Bg7 6.Be3 Nf6 7.Bc4 Qa5, which must surely be one of the most popular lines of this opening among club players.

An example of the neglect: the French super-GM Etienne Bacrot has played this line at least six times in recent years, but you would be hard pressed to realize this from Chess Publishing. Bacrot's assistant, GM Sebastian Maze, is also an "Ax Dragon" expert, but none of his games with it have ever been analysed at Chess Publishing.

I hope that Chris or his helper Gawain Jones will remedy this!
