The Sicilian Defence was analysed by Giulio Polerio in his 1594 manuscript on chess though he did not use the term "Sicilian Defence".

- to be fair, "<request> site:chesspub.com" in google box is/was more efficient than typing <request> in the chesspub search box
- if your question is : after 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 a6, can I get away with 3.Nc3 and 4.d4 instead of the usually recommended 3.c3 or 3.c4, the answer is : yes. The only unusual position you may face is 3.Nc3 b5 [3...Nf6 4.e5] 4.d4 e6, when 5.d5 gives White a fair game. Play Bg5 or Bd2 rather than Be3, Bd2 being an elaborate idea against sicilians with early b5 (the idea is to play a4 to provoke ....b4, retreat the Knight and then play Bd2 and c3,Rc1 to open the c-file in White's favour).
- as you may have noticed, most people here dislike 2layZ lulz. just stay normal, and they'll be glad to help.

I see what you mean and promise to do my best to follow your recommendation in the future. Thanks for pointing it out to me though.

And please use an existing thread instead of starting a new one!

There is a search box, and google is useful too.

I my pursuit of learning e4 and having it as my new repertoire (see my previous thread) I'm playing online and analysing whenever I have time each game aftewards to learn the theory. A few times lately I have met this 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 a6 but have been too lazy to look it up. First time I played as usual 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 e5 (mind you this is 3 min blitz). However, each time after that I have responded 3.c4 which seems fine for white but my question is if I can be more consistent with my repertoire than that e.g. by playing Nc3 and d4.

3.Nc3 Nc6 4.d4 cxd4 5.Nxd4 e5 leads to a position I haven't seen before and I'm not sure if 6.Nxc6 should be avoided and what the evaulation of the pawn sac 6.Nf5 d5 is (as shown to me by the computer). I haven't investigated much at all myself as I thought it would be much easier to ask the forum who I'm sure already know the answer to this inevitably common position.

Was there a question there somewhere?

Look it up. Do some work, then come back and people will no doubt assist.
