The latter of the above move orders I always considered a bit suspect.

There is some line where keeping the Knight on g1 gives White an important extra tempo on the Queen side.

Otherwise though, you know what to expect when you see 2. Bf4 . It's when they play 2. Nf3, that you don't know where they are going. Are they intending to play normally with 3. c4, or the Colle with 3. e3, the London with 3. Bf4, the Torre with 3. Bg5 or even aim for a Veresov or Pirc with 3. Nc3? If you always play .. g6 regardless, it's not a problem, but if you would prefer to play .. e6 or .. c5, or even .. b6 depending on what you are facing then you are left guessing.

Simon Williams has a soon to be released CBFT on the Accelerated London: 1.d4 d5 2.Bf4 and 1.d4 Nf6 2.Bf4.

The latter of the above move orders I always considered a bit suspect.

I've found that Eric Prie and Nokola Sedlak have excellent records against 1 d4 d5 (playing 2 Bf4),  Gata Kamsky an excellent record aqainst 1 d4 Nf6 (playing 2 Nf3), and Vladimir Burmakin more specifically against 1d4 Nf6 2 Nf3 g6. I hope someone finds this helpful.

Palliser has written a SO on d4 openings where he has two good chapters on the Barry.  Summerscale also has a good chapter on the subject in his Killer Repertoire

Do you know a Website, were the barry attack is explained?

There is a playable eBook on the main site with lots of explanation from Eric Prié Smiley

London: Besides Kamsky, there's Éric Prié, obviously. Also Russian GM Boris Grachev played it a lot a few years back. Henrik Danielsen recommended 1.d4 d5 2.Bf4 in a brief Chessbase video, but I don't know how much he's played it himself. And there's Kovacevic, who wrote a book with Johnsen on it.

Veresov: Jonny Hector has played it a lot, probably more than 20 times.

Kamsky plays the London a lot at a very high level.  I'm not near a database so I don't know about the Veresov...
