Yikes! Not my finest hour. If memory serves, I was drawing on the first edition of Marin's Beating the Open Games for inspiration and information. It made no mention of 10.Qd2. I still remember the horror of discovering the problems associated with 10.Qd2 on these forums, just as I'd played 9...Qd6. 11...Nd7 (TN) is not the right way to play.

Curiously, I'm revisiting this line, but from White's side.

I understand the reasons for splitting this thread, but there are enough comments that would belong in both hypothetical threads to leave this as a single thread for now.

Having said that, please discuss the King's Gambit lines in threads devoted to the King's Gambit.

Thanks for the fast reply. Very convincing game Shocked ... I guess I need to get access to a good database in order to figure stuff like this out myself. If I may bother you, I'd be interested if there are any recent high level games featuring 11...fxe4 as recommended by Marin and Cohen. Basically the line that was discussed in the review.

The computer seems to love 11...Nd7 here, with the possiblity of retaken with the d7 knight in case of 12. fxe5 and the idea 12. f5 Nb6.
