I imagine 7...Ne5 is OK, even after 9 Bg5, if Black knows what he's doing, but I share CBT's lack of enthusiasm -- 7 ...Nb8!? is just so much more strategically rich!

Hello.

Black's position after (6...Nc5 7.d5 Ne5 8.Nxe5 dxe5) is solid. Personally though I've never had a good feeling about it.

Perhaps it can be mentioned that there is also a line after 6...a6 that goes:

(1.e4 d6 2.d4 Nf6 3.Nc3 g6 4.Nf3 Bg7 5.Be2 0-0 6.0-0 a6 7.Re1 Nc6 8.d5 Ne5!? 9.Nxe5 dxe5)

With similar play; though after 10.Bg5 I can guarantee that black won't be spending a tempo on a6 Smiley

Have a nice day.

Fas of this line may appreciate the game here, if not the brevity.
Long hair, but short game.

Perhaps it may be helpful to post some of your thoughts here?
As I understand the netiquette of such things, I understand it is generally considered 'off' to post within a forum simply as a means to drive traffic to one's own site. Understandable, perhaps, but not really the done thing. Agree?

A few years ago my analysis on chesspub were copied and sold without asking my permission. I made my conclusions from that experience. Here I only put a small intro and the rest can be read on my own blog.

I can't remember any earlier complaints about this although I have posted already dozens of links from chesspub in the last couple of years to my blog. My blog is a non profit private initiative so I assumed this was ok. Anyway if this is not anymore the case then I will stop immediately making any links to my blog.

I was just checking the March update from IM Sam Collins where he states that white has next to nothing in the opening.

Now I wonder if he talks about 9.Bg5 which I analyzed heavily last year. It looks to me as a nice try for some advantage although I admit things can quickly become extremely complicated.
