You can try the line that Bukavshin (R.I.P.) introduced, it seems to fit all your criteria:

White scores very badly with this exchange win, which is why most players prefer the simple 8.Qx4 but then I guess you get a good game with 8. ... Bb7 because you solved the problem of the lightsquared bishop Smiley

Sharp lines vs the Catalan

Hey guys,

I am currently looking for a new weapon against the Catalan.

I would describe myself as an attacking player, I like to have the initiative.

I wouldn't mind much to sac the exchange on a8 for the light squares or a piece on the queenside for a steamroller over here.

For repertoire reasons the line should start with 1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.g3 Be7 5.Bg2 0-0 6.0-0

And now I guess the move 6..dxc4 produces the most imbalanced and sharp positions because of the opening of the diagonal.

So are there any (good) sharp lines for black vs. the Catalan ?
