I like the updated Bologan version and don't regret having bought it. The new layout is also much nicer than the original one.

Thanks! I was so stupid to order the book before I saw your answer.  I have the Kornev book but far prefer the old Bologan book.

Don't worry, the book can be handed out to recruit new players to the King's Indian cause. Wink

Is this a post in every forum section at once move?

if you have the old book don't bother. it's pretty much the only KID book I regret buying. It's not really updated and the same errors remain. Stick with the original chess-stars book, Kornev, Kotronias, and Vigorito, depending on the lines you like.

What do you think of Bologan's book from 2017 on the KID? I am close to buying it but would like your opinion first. I have the old one from Chess Stars but miss complete games there. I love Smirin's KID Warfare but need some theory as well Smiley

Also interested. Is the second edition worth it?

Checked the excerpt and I'm really dissapointed. I was hoping for something similar to his Open games/Ruy Lopez books.
I'm not going to buy the second edition - Kotronias' saga and Kornev's & Bojkov's books for support are enough for me at this point.
But still, I'm interested in your opinions about the book when you get it. How different/updated it is from the first edition?

Reading the excerpt I was struck by the similarity to the Chess Star book and lo and behold, later on p :
Quote:
I am pleased to note that the first edition of this book, which appeared in 2009

and there was a footnote:
Quote:
Published as The King’s Indian: A Complete Black Repertoire by Chess Stars in 2009, with 356 pages

I am intrigued with the copyright arrangements. Does Chess Stars as publisher not retain copyright to the 2009 book? If not, then this is very unusual indeed.

The book is out  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

https://www.newinchess.com/Shop/Images/Pdfs/9045.pdf

While reading an excerpt I noticed that the book is a SECOND edition of Chess Stars book "The King’s Indian: A Complete Black Repertoire" written in 2009...:

"I am pleased to note that the first edition of this book, which appeared in 2009 was warmly greeted by readers and critics alike and proved very popular."

Hello.

Not complete games in Korneev's King's Indian book. No.
Edit: And no complete games section.

Have a nice day.

Does anyone have Kornev's book on the KID, part 2 of A Practical Black Repertoire? I can see that in another thread the Pirc part has been discussed. Do you know if he includes complete games? I like Bologan's original book on the KID but miss complete games.

I don't know the answer for sure, but Chess Stars' books generally do have some sort of Illustrative Games section.

Wow, Kotronias, Kornev, and now this!  Cool

Will be interesting to see which lines from his two DVDs and Chess Stars book he includes.

I expect the format will be like his 1. ..e5 repertoire books with two options.

I'm sure I'll be very happy, whatever is in it  Grin

Isn't it a reprint of his old book?
