It's 6...Bf5 if I remember correctly.

I got this book on FC but haven't had a chance to look at it in much detail. The pairing of 5 e3 a6 with the Botvinnik Variation seems very odd to me, but what can you do.

The book is available on Forward Chess now. I stopped playing the Slav recently, but I do rather like Kornev's work in general, so I'm fighting the urge not to get it.

There's not much detail in the preview/website about which line is advocated against the exchange Slav. Does anyone have any idea?

Exponential arms-race. These books are getting narrower and narrower!

1. Winning with the London
1. ... Refuting the London with e6+Bd6
2. Smashing the e6+Bd6 variation with 4 Nc3
2. ... Domesticating Nc3 with 4 ... a6!

I'm interested to see how the Botvinnik Variation can possibly be justified as being "practical". Huh

I would have thought that the titles of opening repertoire books fall under the concept of "puffery."

There is a substantial section dealing with deviations from move 2 on -- including the London, on which Chess Stars are also publishing a Black repertoire book by Georgiev!

Shocked
An entire book on just the Black side of the London!? katar's words from http://www.chesspub.com/cgi-bin/chess/YaBB.pl?num=1470754666/2#2 are just ringing more and more true.

The description from Chess Stars is also a surprise:
Quote:
The book discusses several popular set-ups against 1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Bf4 or 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 d5 3.Bf4 from Black's point of view. It also covers some rare move orders.

I naively thought these move orders were already considered to give White nothing if Black knows what he's doing, with 2.Bf4 thus having taken over as the clear main line?

Chess Stars have posted the contents of the new book by Kornev, A Practical Black Repertoire with d5, c6 - Volume 1: The Slav. Despite the title, it turns out to be centred on the Semi-Slav! Against 5.Bg5 he gives the Botvinnik (only); against 5.e3, 5...a6 (or is that technically a Chebanenko Slav)?
