I wrote an article for issue #3. As a strong correspondence player, I analyzed one game. However, in my article a strong GM analyzed 3 games. I think the quality is good but the price is too high.

Though for year 2, they are keeping the $99 price and moving to 6 issues per year instead of 4. So that seems far more reasonable.

Are there enough US-based players to support such?

I hope I am wrong because I would like to see the magazine succeed, but I am afraid that the answer is "no."  They will have to attract an international audience to succeed.

Spectacularly parochial, cripes.

Is one permitted to consider purchase if one if not cloaked in the stars and stripes? Must potential subscribers swear an allegiance or anything?

Mild jest aside, one wonders if such a domestic thrust suffices? Are there enough US-based players to support such?

What's the view inside? Hardcore theoretical articles and decent game analyses? That's all that interests me in such a pub.
I have zero interest in those odd personal things that NIC does, like how GM A eats her eggs or that IM B has a thing about Hasselhoff and sleeps in a shed.

From the link given in the first post, it is a quarterly magazine, 152 pages each issue for $30, or the whole year for $99.

Is it just like Chess Life magazine where there is one good article, followed by the same ads for chess equipment repeated over and over and over again for years on end?

No, actually it's packed with content. I, for one, I'm impressed with the quality, although it is no doubt pricey.

Wow, 30 dollars does seem a little ... optimistic.
No matter how lovely and glossy the pages may be.
Worth noting that not all chess players in the US are perhaps quite as minted as Sinquefeld, perhaps.

A new high quality chess magazine has begun production: the 'American Chess Magazine'.
.
$30 per issue is more than I am willing to pay.
