	A good point. Lets refine then: 1.e4 c5 2.c3 d5 3.exd5 Qxd5 4.d4 cxd4 5.cxd4 e6!? 6.Nc3 Qd8 intending 7.Nf3 Nf6

	Hello, Think that QGA is pretty difficult. There are some classic white wins like Boleslavsky v Kotov Zurich 53, and Karpov in one of his career lowlights fell into one of the lines pointed out in that game, some 40 years later. A lot of the details are shown in "Art of attack" book if remember correctly... Bye John S

	Interesting constructive replies! I agree it looks like Bc4 and the transposition to that line of QGA is awkward - after all if you were playing the QGA you would not play like that! Before I throw in the towel completely on this, is this line of QGA really a complete fiasco....

	8.Bc4 is the Steinitz Variation of the QGA: 1.d4 d5 2.c4 dxc4 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.e3 e6 5.Bxc4 c5 6.o-o cxd4 7.exd4 etcetera. This is considered very promising for White. I played it once, via the Morra Gambit Declined, and beat a player with an ELO+ of 150 points. So Keano, don't do this. If you by all means want to play such a position, you can postpone cxd4 againts the 2.c3 Sicilian. Of course that also give White a few extra options (Na3, early c3-c4).

	Yes, but as far as I know, that line of the semi-Tarrasch is rather promising for White. Also, White would have the option of Bc4. Then he could either play for Be3 plus Ne5, or moves like Re1 and a3, with another promising kind of Semi-Tarrasch, I believe. (The Bc4 Semi-Tarrasch was recommended for White, by transposition from the 2. c4 Caro, by John Emms in Attacking with 1. e4. I believe Emms and other sources think that Black's best line there involves ...Nxc3 rather than ...Nf6, an option that Black would not have in the Sicilian move order.)
