I appreciate your trust! I have been busy in the past and unable to dedicate huge chunks of time to it for various reasons, but lately I am dedicating all of my spare time to sealing it up and shipping it out. I am in a groove, and I promise you guys that I'm trying to get it out as fast as humanly possible, for the sake of everyone involved.

Well, I am basically done. All that's left is an update to the 7...Be7 8.Nc4 chapter, and a final readthrough. My goal is give my manuscript to Everyman by the end of the month! I think it's around 400 pages at the moment.

Shocked

I really hope it will be released earlier than may 2014.

You and me both, though as MartinC said, it's likely a lot of work. I don't know exactly how long final books are in relation to manuscripts, but my manuscript is....beefy. The intro and the Anti-Sicilians coverage is 180 pages, and there are 8 Kalashnikov Chapters, all around 20-50 pages in length. You can do the math, but that's a lot of stuff to proofread, typeset, edit, etc...

Grin

It takes six months for a release? Honestly I would trust you, spare the whole checking and bulletproof reading and release it as soon as possible, due to other books about the kalashnikov.

I doubt it'll be notably before then - there's quite a bit of work/time involved in proof reading, lay out, printing, distribution etc etc and they don't precisely have the turnover to keep an army of people on hand to rush books through Wink

I have now played Kalashnikov/sweshnikov hybrid for some time at chess.com. The results have been fantastic. I get good game almost always (to give some idea of the opponents: my chess.com rating is ca. 1850, so I beat ca. 93% of players). By far the best e4 antitode in internet games so far.  Smiley

Yes. It is the same with G.Jones: the a3+b4 plan i mentioned. Maybe there objectively White has a tiny bit of an edge, but with sensible play Black equalises within the next 5 moves or so. Maybe i am wrong, but then a shared Chesspub effort might reveal the truth!

Hello! Tony, please finish the book soon!

I don't really see why Black should panick after 3.Bb5 g6! OK, 4.Bxc6 dxc6 5.d3 Bg7 6.h3 e5 7.Nc3 Nd7 8.Be3 has scored well for White and it might be easier to play, but isn't Black simply OK after 8...Qe7 9.Qd2 Nf8 10.Bh6 f6? This a3+b4 idea which is supposed to cause the big problems doesn't seem to me to be that troublesome. Black is very solid and frankly i think that he is equal.

OK, i know that this is not the topic of this discussion, but if someone is interested we could argue about this one at the Anti-Sicilians section under a new topic.

Food for thought. I would like to join this. Have you looked at Bologans antitode to this?

Tonyro,

Having recently started to study Sveshnikov and Kalashnikov, I think 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 is a very annoying line.

Easist sicilian recommends (and apparently you too) 3.-Nf6 and now good seems 4.Bc6 dc 5.d3.
eg. 5.- Bg4 6.h3 Bh5 7.Nc3 Nd7 8.g4 Bg6 9.Bf4. ES recommends 9.-h5 but does not analyse

10.Nh4 Bh7 11.g5 or 10.Tg1 (Ponomariov) both looking pleasant for white. Have you any ideas here?

Overall I  now start to understand the appeal to 3.Bb5 + 4.Bc6. White gets a fluid position which is much easier to play in practice.  It seems hard to find any line where black could get natural counterplay. The best approach seems to be "wait and suffer" Sad

I don't know who ES is off the top of my head, but I have an improvement over that line! Smiley

ES = Easist sicilian Wink

Nice to hear! Looking forward to see your book!

Have you seen Svidler - Gelfand Alekhine Memorial Paris 2013 ? After 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 e6 4.0-0 Nge7 5.Re1 a6 6.Bf1 d5 7.exd cxd 8.d4 Nf6 9.Be3 Be7 10.dxc QxQ 11.RxQ Ng4 1/2 41 moves Black seems very ok.

True. but I think both 4.Bc6 and 4.0.0 Nge7 5.c3 are also challenging. (See Bologan's book on Rossolimo.)
