e3 Botvinnik

Im interested about the "e3" botvinnik. I've looked at a few games, and it seems its better than the normal botvinnik with e4. At least, its easier to play I would say. Does this opening have another name? Cheesy

Is there any theory on this? books?

Surely without e4 it isn't a Botvinnik.  There are various normal lines involving White playing c4, Nc3, g3, Bg2 and e3; one can find some material on them in various encyclopedias, books on the English or on flank openings (Keene, Hansen and Watson come to mind), the closed Sicilian/English chapter in "Pawn Structure Chess" ...

I have seen this setup attributed to Staunton. He played it with both colours.
