I also play the Slav so I thank you because it's better to study it now instead of being suprised on the tournament board.
I don't like to give White free pawn moves like f3 or h3-g4 and I don't see any problem in 1.d4 d5 2.c4 c6 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.g3 Bf5 5.Nc3 e6 6.Nh4 Bg6 7.Nxg6 hxg6=, the position is closed so White bishops don't make such a difference.
But i prefer a more slavish approach to get some winning prospects with 4....dxc4, with a temporary (or not) pawn up and a solid pawn structure.
