Idea in 5 Bf4 system
In a recent game, after 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. Nf3 d5 4. Nc3 Nbd7 5. Bf4 c6 6. e3 Be7 7. Qc2 O-O, I was faced with 8. Ng5.

why 2.c4 is more famous than following up with Nf3
Why in d4 d5 lines 2.c4 is played instead of 2.Nf3? What i am thinking is Can't white avoid many critical lines by 2.Nf3 instead of 2.c4 (Like Queens gambit accepted)similarly the same question for d4...

Avrukh's book
He recommends to play 1.d4 d5 2.c4 c6 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.e3 e6. But he also recommends 1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.g3 and I could not find any thought given to 4...c6
