From's Gambit - Question about a line
So I'm reading Timothy Taylor's "Bird's Opening", and I have a question about a line in From's Gambit (page 139 for those playing along at home).
After 1. f4 e5 2. fxe5 d6 3. exd6 Bxd6 4. Nf3 g5 ... Started 03/22/10 at 01:33:46 by Fromper |

Bird vs. Nimzowitsch
A question for Bird players as well as Nimzowitsch players. After 1.f4 Nc6 i want to know black's best practical chance to play for the win. I have an interesting system i'd like opinions on.

TN against the From's gambit (Lasker).
Hello,
I am not a strong player (1900), but I found an TN against From's gambit and just wanted to know your point of view. I have only played it in blitz, though. I just do not play the Bir... Started 01/05/09 at 15:40:00 by DrSnuggles |

Playing d5 and Nc6 against the Bird, good or bad?
Hi everyone.
I' ve been looking for a "clear" system against the Bird, one that will not be a refutation, but hopefully give me playable positions without needing to learn too much theory. I... Started 06/18/08 at 13:13:33 by Felipao |

Bird's to Austrian (Pirc)
In a recent league game, the opening moves were 1. d4 Nf6 2. f4 g6 3. e3 Bg7 4. Bd3 O-O. At this stage, playing Black I wondered about the idea 5. e4 entering an Austrian style formation at the cost o...

I’m contemplating including Bird’s Opening in my repertoire and have been looking at the Classical lines 1 f4 d5 2 Nf3 g6 3 e3 and 2 …Nf6 3 e3. Though I’ve only got Taylor’s book and not Ivanov’s two ...

Just for my information: as a f4 player what would you play after 1.f4-e5:

Why isn't the Bird played more often?
I really do wonder some things...like why is the Bird-Larsen attack not employed more often?! It's exactly the same as a reversed Dutch Defense with the important difference that the Queen's bishop i...

New Bird's Opening Book by Lakdawala
Has anyone received a copy of this book yet? I'm thinking about buying it. It's almost 450 pages but the author is loquacious/verbose so page count might be a false indicator of depth.
