The Catalan against all 1…d5 responses?
I just had a quick look at Avrukh’s books, as most of you know, a two volume repertoire for white with 1d4. As Avrukh himself explains at the introduction, his repertoire is based, whenever possible, ...

Catalan Vs. Slav
After 1. d4 d5 2. c4 c6 3. Nf3 Nf6 White can play 4. g3
This could easily traspose into the Catalan but this line is considered not so good for Black due to 4...dc4 and there is a difference,... Started 10/22/09 at 16:28:25 by Templare2 |

Is the Catalan a good fit with my repertoire?
My white repertoire is built around 1.d4, 2.Nf3 and 3. c4. Against the Kingside fianchetto defenses I follow Grivas' book "Beating the Fianchetto Defenses" - Bg5 Grunfeld, classical Benoni and KID wi...

Move order questions regarding Catalan
Suppose you want to play the Catalan against QGD-NID-QID. What are the pros and cons of 1. Nf3 and 1. d4 (I am thinking of Avrukh's book here: 1. d4 d5 2. c4 e6 3. Nf3 Nf6 4. g3 and 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4...

Anyone writing Starting Out: The Catalan?
This would be a great EVERYMANCHESS book, featuring many annotated games played by Kramnik in the Catalan. Very instructive for a USCF 1775 almost class-A player like myself.
