The Chernikov Variation???
Just saw a blurb about one of Dzindzichashvili's DVDs, apparantly recommending a line in the Sicilian that has been considered bad since the stoneage I suppose, i.e:

Another Velimirovic Question
I recently played the Velimirovic attack as a Black and was confronted with:

Yermo's book on Classical Sicilian
In Yermo's book Chess Explained: The Classical Sicilian, he says white is better in the following line:
1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 Nc6 6. f3 e5 7. Nb3 Be7 8. Be3 O-O 9. Qd2 ... Started 06/12/10 at 02:27:36 by BobbyDigital80 |

Starting with the Classical
Playing OTB one a quite low level (1850) and CorrChess on considerable higher one, I try to work out a new Sicilian repertoire to test it beside my usual French, which to often leads too positions I l...

Is the Kupreichik Variation in good shape?
I am not sure if the name in the title really is correct, but I guess he was the main player to venture 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 Bd7!?.
This line came to my attention when I wa... Started 02/14/12 at 14:41:58 by Chessexplained |

English Attack vs. Classical (2...d6/5...Nc6)
It seems like most of the big boys have stayed away from these lines except via transposition in one Ivanchuk game (vs. Kozul, Euro Team Ch 2005)
Some of the main lines seem to be: 6 Be3 e6 is a Scheven... Started 06/19/07 at 20:44:49 by blueguitar322 |

Rauzer 6...Qa5 7.Bf6 gf6 8. Nb3 Qg5
Hi everyone,
does anybody know theory about the line given in the subject. It has a phantastic score in my database, but I cannot believe it is sound. How can White obtain an advantage?<br ... Started 12/02/03 at 10:22:08 by Bernhard (Guest) |

Richter-Rauser 6 Bg5 Bd7
The solid 2600 plus GM Alexey Dreev, mainly regarded as a Caro-Kann and French player, has been playing the Classical Sicilian recently and answering the Richter-Rauser 6 Bg5 with ...Bd7 with very rea...

Black vs The Richter-Rauzer
As we have discussed in other threads, the main snag to the Classical for Black is 6 Bg5.
I notice that Dreev (previously a 6...Bd7 specialist) has recently played the variation 6 Bg5 e6 7 Qd2 a... Started 02/24/08 at 00:09:57 by Paddy |

Is Classical sisilian still bad
I used to play the classical, but then swithed to the french. Now I'd like to go back to classical but it seems to be doing a slow death.

6...Bd7 7.Qd2 Rc8 Rauzer
The position in question arises after the following moves: 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cd4 4.Nd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 Nc6 6.Bg5 Bd7 7.Qd2 Rc8 and now which move do you feel offers White the best chances to fight for a...

New Idea in Rauzer 6...Bd7
Hello, recently i am analysing the 6...Bd7 line in Rauzer. My attention is focused on the following line 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 Nc6 6.Bg5 Bd7 7.Qd2 Rc8 8.f4. Now Black has two mai...

B69?
The Open Sicilian e-Book does not seem to cover B68-B69 (in particular, 9. f4 Be7 10. Nf3 b5) and the only annotated game I see in the db for this is Kutuzovic-Jankovic, Metalis op 2001, which indicat...

B67 Classical, today's theoretical novelty
16...Nb4? what a novelty!? (16...Nf4 is the common move) 17.Nf6!! At this point I expected a massacre.. 18.Qh4... What? Why?.. Nooooo! (18.Bxh7!! 1-0) ...And both went peacefully.. Started 03/15/12 at 13:43:39 by Vass |
