C01: French Exchange 4.c4
I can not find an existing thread on this line, so I'm starting a new one.
Michael Goeller (who I've also seen around on these forums) has recently posted a lot of analysis on the 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5... Started 09/01/09 at 09:29:04 by Scarblac « Pages 1 2 all » |

Portugese idea in Exchange French
Something I faced in a recent league game.
The sequence 1. e4 e6 2. d4 d5 3. exd5 exd5 4. c4 Nf6 5. Nc3 Bg4 or possibly 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Nf6 3. c4 e6 4. d4 exd5 5. Nc3 Bg4 It's only been pla... Started 04/03/19 at 23:44:42 by RdC |

C01: French Exchange
Dumb question - but could someone please explain the reason why in the french exchange Black is given the advice that if White plays Nf3, he should play Ne7, and if Ne2 then Nf6?

C01: French Exchange Var, Classical with Qe7+
In the Winawer you have a line which goes like 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nc3 Bb4 4.exd5 exd5 5.Qf3 (Larsen) and now Qe7+!. This seems to be good for black, disrupting white's development. Both Dvoretsky in 19...

More often than not, I hear someone doesn't like to play French due to exchange variation and higher draw rates. This line is also not covered a whole lot here. Can you please dedicate a m... Started 10/25/09 at 15:49:47 by saubhikr |
