1 c4 g6 2 g3 What is best for Black ?
What is best after 1 c4 g6 2 g3 ? (I am a KID player )
I used to adopt this move order , but often my opponent adopts a closed set-up without d4 , that I don't like I thought to play f5 at s... Started 09/17/12 at 13:43:52 by vallescure |

a different approach: 1.a3 and 1.h3
It's definitely clear to me that no matter what opening you choose to play, your opponent with perfect play always finds a way to equalize.
I'm Elo FIDE around 1800; have tried with both e4 d4 c4... Started 02/19/10 at 22:55:15 by KoKko « Pages 1 2 all » |

New Edition of "Dynamic English"
I know it's been at least hinted that a new edition of "The Dynamic English" might be written. Is this already in the works, or are there plans sometime soon in the future for a new edition?

One quick question about the English (why Nf3 ?)
I have been looking into adding/changing my (d4) repertoire for White, as I have not yet found something comfortable. I have already gotten great responses about that in the d-Pawn Specials forum. Whe...

Bird Opening
Hi!
Next week i'll start my first correspondence tournament in years. I would like to play the Bird Opening to avoid opening novelties. I have the Taylor's book. Is it still viable? Tnx... Started 03/21/17 at 16:40:47 by Templare2 |

Avoiding Maróczy Bind 1. Nf3 or 1. c4 c5
As a Grünfeldplayer, I am aware that almost never do 1. Nf3 or 1. c4 players play into the Grünfeld through transposition, so I try at times to play 1...c5 against both. However, I often have problems...

about Playing The English (Ntirlis, Quality Chess)
Dear all, what is your assessment of this new repertoire book for white? I cannot quite make up my mind on it.
On one hand, the prose is very readable and Nikos clearly has put in efforts into t... Started 11/05/23 at 12:03:00 by Johannes Brahms « Pages 1 2 all » |

Good books on the Reti opening
It seems to me that there aren't very many books on the Reti opening seen from white's perspective. Delchev has one but that only covers the anti-slav. I'm very fond of Marin's books on the English bu...
