1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.f3-avoiding Grünfeld mainlines?
I took this special question of my post in "general issues" because it better suits here.
After the moves 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6, what about 3.f3?
If Black wants to play the King´s indian,  3.f3 s...

Reply to White's 3.d5 pawn advance
Hi All,
In the Grunfeld defence, what happens if White plays 3.d5 after 1.d4,Nf6, 2.c4,g6 ?  Doesn't the pawn advance cramp up Black's position?
Regards,
Utpal

Is the Grunfeld a poor opening for winning chances
I've played a lot of blitz with the Grunfeld lately and I enjoy the positions but they seem a lot more defined than with the NID/QID where you get a ton of pawn breaks and the game is closed longer. <...

Queen vs. 3 minors in the Grunfeld
Hi
I was wondering what do others think of the rather typical Grunfeld situation of a queen vs 3 minor pieces. In particular I am thinking of the line: [pgn][Event "?"]
[Site "?"]
[Date ...|/pgn]
Recently I have been searching for a secondary line against the Grunfeld (which is also my main defence as Black) and so far I have been looking at this 5.Qa4+ line. From the gam

7. Bc4 Ex.Grunfeld: Van Wely- S.Kudrin Foxwoods'06
Van Wely recently played two interesting games in the 7. Bc4 exchange at Foxwoods. He didn't get anywhere with his 16. Qd4!? against V.Mikhalevski (who surely has read Flear's site!), but his final ro...

Underappreciated line in the 5. Bf4 Grunfeld?
After 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 d5 4. Nf3 Bg7 5. Bf4 0-0 6. e3 c5 7. dxc5 Qa5 8. Rc1, the mainline by far is 8...dxc4 and continues 9. Bxc4 Qxc5 10. Bb3.

Long-term weapon against Grunfeld?
The interesting thing about the Grunfeld is that it is not immediately clear what the "main line" is. For example, in the Nimzo or Queen's Indian one can say, specialise in 4. e3 and 4. g3 respectivel...

Grunfeld to avoid knight on the edge ?
I think that the variation 1.d4 Nf6 2.ç4 g6 3.Nç3 d5 4.çxd Nxd5 5.Nf3 Bg7 6.Na4 !? is interesting for white, so what do you think for black about : 5.Nf3 NxNç3 6.bxNç3 Bg7 trying to reach a "normal" G...
