C55: Two knights: Bc4 & d3
I have come up with a new line in this established variation as early as on move 7. It goes as follows: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.d3 h6 5.0-0 d6 6.c3 g6 7.d4 Nd7!?
The purpose is obviously to... Started 01/16/12 at 14:51:35 by NeverGiveUp |

C55: 4. Nc3 in Two Knights Defense
A lot of lower rateds play 4. Nc3 in the Two Knights Defense (1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. Nc3).
Twice recently, I've responded with the old pawn fork trick - 4. ... Nxe4 5. Nxe4 d5, which ... Started 04/25/11 at 15:09:45 by Fromper |

C55: Italian Game question
After 1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bc4 Bc5 4 0-0 Nf6 5 d4, Larry Kaufman in his book The Chess Advantage in Black and White says that this is a dubious gambit and recommends 5...Bxd4. However, Mihail Marin in ...

C51-C52: Evan's Gambit Refutation?
Does anyone know of a true refutation of the Evan's Gambit (1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bc4 Bc5 4 b4!?) that guarantees Black an advantage? I thought the main line, 4...Bxb4 5 c3 Ba5, refuted the Evan's Gambi...

How about this idea?
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 4.c3 Nf6 5.Qc2!? I do not think this gives white any more than the main lines do, but it certainly is an interesting try. Started 07/04/10 at 18:36:14 by Conquistador |
