C51: Evans Gambit Declined
From what I've read online, the Evans Gambit is a respectable opening (a good reason to play the Two Knights), and that declining the gambit with 4...Bb6 is less correct than accepting it with 4...Bxb...

C55: Italian Game question
After 1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bc4 Bc5 4 0-0 Nf6 5 d4, Larry Kaufman in his book The Chess Advantage in Black and White says that this is a dubious gambit and recommends 5...Bxd4. However, Mihail Marin in ...

C51-C52: Evan's Gambit Refutation?
Does anyone know of a true refutation of the Evan's Gambit (1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bc4 Bc5 4 b4!?) that guarantees Black an advantage? I thought the main line, 4...Bxb4 5 c3 Ba5, refuted the Evan's Gambi...

Vote for what you think Black's best move is after 1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bc4 Bc5 4 d4!?.
1) 4...Nxd4. After 1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bc4 Bc5 4 0-0 Nf6 5 d4!?, 5...Nxe4? is bad because of 6 Nxe5. However... Started 08/29/10 at 06:46:20 by Anonymous3 |
