11......Nf6. Lets talk about how sweet the attack is and why noone plays it anymore.
Most of the time white will play along and just do the same stuff in that he plays in the normal marshall. ... Started 11/13/10 at 21:58:15 by walkingterrapin |

Best try against the Marshall?
Hello all,
I've been working on a Ruy Lopez Repertoire for a while, and I've moved on to the Marshall, but I'm having a hard time finding anything (surprising, I know). I've been looking at 12. ... Started 06/28/09 at 22:33:07 by TonyRo |

Marshall Feint and the Anti Marshalls
I consider taking up the Closed Ruy Lopez again. I am not likely to start playing the Marshall Gambit but consider to adopt the Marshall move-order 7...0-0 in order to induce some anti-Marshall lines ...

Game 3 Kasparov v Short 1993
Game 3 of this match is mentioned on page 34 of the October 2009 UK Chess magazine. The query is why Kasparov didn't try to win a pawn by 13 axb5 axb5 14 Qb3 in the anti-Marshall line 1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 N...

Marshall with 12 d3
This has some appeal with the main idea that in the sequence 1. e4 e4 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Ba4 Nf6 5. 0-0 Be7 6. Re1 b5 7. Bb3 0-0 8. c3 d5 9. exd5 Nxd5 10. Nxe5 Nxe5 11. Rxe5 c6 12. d3 Bd6 13. Re1...

a4 Anti-Marshall
Today's Svidler-Carlsen game sort of transposed into this. Carlsen played d6 against 6. d3, and then Svidler went a4, Carlsen then castled. Re1 itself wasn't played until move 14.
