Spectacular early novelty in the Paulsen/Kan
By analysing one of my recent clubchampionshipgames I bumped on a spectacular novelty very early in the paulsen/kan system. I was surprised that in the almost 1000 games I found with the position, thi...

New Taimanov book by Markus, Perunovic & Ivanisevi
This one looks interesting!
http://thinkerspublishing.com/images/content/3.jpg The book on the Rauzer-Kozul looked very comprehensive, so I am very curious about this one. Started 11/20/15 at 07:54:41 by Konstriktor |

Qb6 sicilian
Hi all,
what do people think of these 2 sicilians: 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 cd 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 Qb6 with the idea of 6.Nb3 e6 7.Be3 Qc7 8.Bd3 Bb4 9.0-0 Bxc3 10Bxc3 0-0 and 1.e4 c5 ... Started 06/24/08 at 23:30:53 by Zatara |

Taimanov; 7.Bd3 line - follow up on the October up
A recent game of mine in the 7.Bd3 line of the Taimanov (that is: 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 e6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nc6 5.Nc3 Qc7 6.Be3 a6 7.Bd3) sent me rechecking the “Safest Sicilian” and Richard Palliser’s joint ...

Sicilian Kan - Nepomniachtchi-Karttunen
Hi everybody,
I am new here, but I have followed and read some of the threads for about a month, and I really love this place. I am a fairly low-rated (1709) player that doesn't have too much tim... Started 01/21/11 at 16:28:52 by fling |

Getting Started with the Taimanov
Hi everyone,
For the new year, I'm looking to switch up my main defense against 1 e4 from 1...e5 to the Taimanov Sicilian. I have a little bit of experience in Taimanov positions from both sides,... Started 12/30/16 at 03:14:34 by fjd |

Taimanov queen "sacrifice" variation
Yet another twist in the dedate over this variation:
[Event "Moscow Open 2007"] [Site "Moscow, RUS"] [Date "2007.01.30"] [Round "4"] [White "Kornev, Alexei(RUS)"] [Black "Geller, Jakov(RUS)"]<br ...[/b] position after 13...Kf8!? This move is disregarded in all sources I have (Delchev/Semkov, Rizzitano, Sommerbauer), however Geller comes with a new plan of attacking with the g and h pawns - which works very nicely here (confirming my belief that playing an automatic 13...g6 and followed by ...0-0 is just too passiv Started 01/30/07 at 20:32:53 by Ptero |

Taimanov move order: 4...e6 or 4...Qc7?
Assuming that one is willing to play the 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4
[IMAGE] move order to reach the Taimanov, I have been wondering about the relative merits of 4...e6 and 4...Qc7. I've only found a side-remark in Rizzi... Started 07/17/07 at 06:34:03 by Bonsai |

Anyone writing Starting Out Sicilian Kan?
A few years have passed since Emm's book and it would be interesting to see what practitioner's think of Khalifman's suggestions in Vol 8 of his Anand series.

Taimanov 5. Nc3 a6 6. Nxc6 bxc6 7. e5
Hi,
I am investigating the move order 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 e6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nc6 5. Cc3 a6 to defuse the English attack, but I am uncomfortable with this variation 6. Nxc6 bxc6 7. e5. Black seems to be laggin... Started 10/22/19 at 14:23:16 by nocteus |
