2...e6 3.d4 cd4 4.Nd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 Nc6 6.Nc6!?
Any views on this line? It has particular relevance to White players wishing to avoid the Sveshnikov, as well as to Black players seeking to avoid the 3.Bb5 lines, and the slightly dull 7.Nd5 line of...

2. ... Nc6, 4. ... a6
1.e4 c5 2.Ne2 Nc6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 a6
Now... Exactly what is this and why do the GMs avoid it? My games from the white side usually head back into Taimanov territory, but I definitely feel ... Started 12/18/03 at 20:11:57 by nexirae |

Re: 8....b5 in Taimanov English Attack
Is there a refutation to 8...b5 in the Taimanov against the English Attack?
I saw a database game with N. McDonald where 9.Bf4 e5 was played, and black got in trouble. That doesn't seem forced... Started 08/30/13 at 23:04:20 by Dave1998 |

What do Kan players w/ NID+QID play vs. 1c4/1Nf3?
"What do Kan players w/ NID+QID in their repertoire play vs. 1.c4/1.Nf3?"
What a question again.... So, what do you play, for example, if you belong to this category? To make the question more s... Started 12/22/10 at 13:31:10 by HoemberChess |

Transposition after 5.Bd3 Nf6 6.0-0 d6 7.Nc3
I just got a short question regarding transpositions after 5.Bd3, since I haven't played any other Sicilian before I picked up the Kan:

I have just received my copy and, unfortunately, I believe the book is a lot worse than even the original 'The safest Sicilian' (A great book). Perhaps cramming too much on one book was wrong, but the...

Move order problem in Taimanov
In all the books I have on the Taimanov, the following move order is not given, but seems natural enough.

Play the Sicilian Kan
Has anyone here read the book "Play the Sicilian Kan" by Johan Hellsten? I'm considering buying it, and I wanted to get some reviews. Would you recommend it?

B49 - 9.Na4 Bd6!?
hi all,
I`m quite satisfied with 9. ... Be7, nevertheless it´s always handy to have a backup line. 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 e6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nc6 5. Nc3 Qc7 6. Be2 a6 7. O-O Nf6 8.Be3 Bb4 9. Na4 ... Started 07/05/08 at 08:50:47 by gewgaw |
