Nxf7 in Petrov Defence

1 e4, e5
2 Nf3, Nf6
3 Nxe5, d6
4 Nxf7, ...<br...

Petroff with 3. Nc3
(So 1. e4, e5 2. Nf3, Nf6 3. Nc3)
Seems strange to me : White seems to be fine (and even a bit better than that) but it is obviously not the main line > What am I missing here ?

I've been playing the Petroff and was looking at the variation 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. Nxe5 Nxe4 4. Qe2 Qe7. What, if anything, is wrong with this variation for black? Looking thru some books they all...

Svidler-Adams W.Ch Rnd 1 Petroff: Does it draw?
MNb, and many others look at the Petroff's almost as Black to play and draw against 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3.
Mickey Adams in round 1 seems to have staked his own claim to that theory, and com...

C42 C43 1.e4e5 2.Nf3Nf6 what else does black need?
After many years of semi open defences (- all of 'em!) I find myself drawn to the open games.
My question is, if I intend to play the Petroff, what other variations do I need to know, and which ...

1.e4 e5 2..Nf3 Nf6 3.Nxe5 d6 4.Nf3 Nxe4 5.c4!?
Does this get white anywhere? I used to play this but after getting nowhere in several lines I switch to 3.d4 lines where I grab a pawn for the bishop pair. Recently however, I read of the idea of cas...

3. d4 Petroff- why is this not so popular?
Recent books such as "Beating the Petroff" do not deal with 3. d4 Ne4 4. Bd3 d5 5. Ne5. Why do top players seldom play this?
Has anyone seen the new Everyman book on the Petroff? What do readers...

Underrated line in the Petroff?
What's wrong with this reply against the Petroff?:
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3. Nxe5 d6 4. Nf3 Nxe4 5.d4 d5 6. Bd3 Bd6 7. 0-0 0-0 8. c4 Be6!? The normal move is 8. - c6, but what is wrong with 8. - Be6.....

Exciting line in the 3. d4 Petroff!?!
I saw a Morozevich game a few months back that went
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. d4 exd4 4. e5 Ne4 5. Qxd4 f5!?
I don't know how the game went, but I think White has to take e.p by:
6. exf6 ...
