1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d6! and Black is O.K.
Since some people wanted a Philidor thread on it's own, I'll use this one. So it's up to Mnb and company to prove me wrong.
Please keep this thread serious and to the point! AKA 1, no evaluations...

Philidor: Antoshin 6.Qf3!?
Hi,
I am still looking for something simple and good against the Antoshin after the initial moves
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 exd 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 Be7,
which can be reached with various move orders, e.g....

Philidor - Antoshin variation
Both Neil McDonald and Nigel Davies in some recent repertoire books recommends that White meets the Antoshin - (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 exd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 Be7) with the Fianchetto 6.g3 which incident...

Philidor - Shirov's Refutation
In 2006 Alexey Shirov crushed M. Klinova in an impressive game that continued:

[Site "Gibraltar ENG"]
[Date "2006.??.??"]
[White "Shirov,A"]
[Black "Klinova,M"]<b...[/b]
My question is, does white have enough compensation for the pawn after 10...b5 11.Bb3 a5 12.a4 bxa4!? as shown in the diagram below:

White To Move

Should White prove to be better in the above diagram then things look mighty grim for him in the Hanham variation.
What say you?

I make a little publicity for my blog (if mister Kosten agrees) on the Philidor counter gambit:  http://contregambitphilidor.blogspot.com/
The PCG must have gone out of oblivion!  Cheesy

C41: Philidor Countergambit 4.exf5 Qe7!?
I was looking at the line
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 f5 4.exf5 Qe7
and couldn't find a way to get a clear dominating position for white. Is the move 4.. Qe7 a known theoretical move in the philid...
