What do QGA players do against 1.d4 2.Nf3 or 1.c4?
Essentially:
- If Black plays the KID, then Black can play Nf6, g6, Bg7, O-O, d6 against everything. - If Black plays the QGD, then Black can play d5, e6, Nf6, Be7, O-O against everything.<b... Started 05/25/23 at 19:20:01 by Marc Benford |

3 Nf3 a6
Are there any theoretical problems with the line [1 d4 d5 2 c4 dxc4] 3 Nf3 a6 - ? I've begun looking at it, and it seems like a rather attractive solution to Black's problems:
A) 4 e3 - by far th... Started 03/10/17 at 22:55:45 by fdunne |

The Billenger's Gambit
I just found out about a new gambit line in the QGA and it's so new that none of my chess books mention it called the Billenger's Gambit. I haven't seen the Chesspublishing site post any theoretical a...

QGA 3. e4 e5 4. Nf3 responses
There are two responses that I am considering, one is the immediate 4. ...exd4 and the other is to first give a check with 4. ...Bb4+ and then maybe play exd4. The engines prefer the immediate exd4.<b...

Why isn't the QGA more popular?
Hi ChessForum,
I am really wondering why the QGA is not more popular. Theorically it seems to be in good shape and the theory to learn, compared to other defenses, is relatively small. ... Started 09/22/16 at 19:52:21 by mrbenoni « Pages 1 2 all » |

QGA 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.e3 Bg4
Hi!
I spent some time analysing an interesting sideline in the QGA: 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.e3 Bg4. Avrukh avoids it by suggesting 3.e3, and iirc he mentions that he didn't find a white advantage after some ... Started 05/15/11 at 10:29:22 by huibui |

Delaying ...c5
The main thing putting me off the QGA is the boring dxc5 endgame variation, but recently I saw some games by Evgeny Postny as black, where instead of 5... c5, he played a6/b5/Bb7/Nbd7 and only then .....

Queen's Gambit Accepted
This defense doesn't seem to be getting any love these days. It's not played often at a high level, and there seem to be few discussions of it on this forum. Any specific reasons?

New idea in the QGA
There's a remarkable game by the French GM Edouard from the 4NCL last weekend. Against Jon Hammer, he took the pawn on c4 and then defended it with an immediate b5. That's something we all learned yea...

I bought this DVD this week. It is interesting enough, looks like a low-maintenance repertoire that leads to solid positions (if slightly passive at times). According to Collins, he had been put off b...

QGA move-ordering?
I would like to play the QGA with the following variations:
1 d4 d5 2 c4 dxc4 3 Nf3 (3 e4 Nf6 or Nc6; 3 e3 e5) Nf6 4 e3 Bg4 The question is: what if white delays c4? In particular: 1 d4... Started 08/12/12 at 17:45:26 by gwnn |

This opening really seems to be ideal for amateur play(sub 2400 elo), which is 99% of the chess community. When I say Ideal I am implying that it seems that many white players just aren't prepared for...
