[QGD Exchange]5...Bb4 idea for Black dead again?
Hello everybody,
I was playing a lot of Catalan and 1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.cxd5 exd5 5.Bg5 a couple years ago simply because I like the control that White has and seemingly very little count... Started 04/21/25 at 11:29:26 by Cyberangel |

what's up with the Tarrasch???
Hi everyone!
In my quest to find a non-mainstream defense to d4 that is still sound and yet active, the tarrasch (and the classical dutch, and the benoni...) sprung to my mind! But, it is not wid... Started 01/17/05 at 07:32:02 by krugman |

1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3/Nf3 c6 4.cxd5!?
The QGD Exchange against the Triangle setup seems like a popular way for White to avoid the Noteboom and the Semi-Slav etc. But can Black take advantage of this particular move order, or is it best to...

Repertoire question
As Black I play the QGD with the moves 1 d4 d5 2 c4 e6 3 Nc3 Nf6
After 4 Bg5 Be7 5 Nf3 Nbd7 etc. I get positions I'm quite happy playing. However after 4 Nf3 Be7 5 Bf4 0-0 6 e3 I'm not over... Started 07/04/18 at 17:21:36 by najdorfslayer |

g6 avoided in the QGD.ExchangeVar, Why?
Recent games between strong players, K-K, and Carlsen-Jakovenko, have shown that the player with the black pieces has avoided to develop the light squared bishop outside the pawn chain. Have you found...

QGD Exchange - What about this line?
The QGD Exchange troubles me. For the second subsequent time I got nothing out from the opening. I had to work quite hard for the draw. So

QGD 4 e3
1 d4 d5 2 c4 e6 3 Nc3 Nf6 4 e3
What is to be recommended here? Perhaps a Tarrasch setup with c5 is the best option? I'm disappointed that this move is not covered by the e-books. ![]() Started 04/08/04 at 21:23:21 by nexirae |

QGD Exchange - pig ignorant question
So the game starts 1 d4 d5 2 c4 e6 3 Nc3 Nf6 4 cxd5 exd5 5 Bg5 Be7 6 e3 00 7 Bd3. Now Black plays 7...h6. Am I meant to take that knight? Well, say I don't, and the game goes on 8 Bh4 b6. Now 9 Nf3 Bb...

What is the best line to play against White's 1. d4 d5 2. c4 e6 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. cxd5 cxd5 5. Bg5 c6 6. e3? I was reading the new Everyman book on the QGD, and I did not feel very comfortable with 6...Bf...

A recent game of mine started 1 d4 Nf6 2 c4 e6 3 Nc3 d5 4 cxd5 exed5 5 Bg5 c6 6 e3.
