A Bb5 Moscow sicilian "trick".
Rather long time ago I played a 1-min game against GM Ulf Andersson on ICC and I used my little "Bb5 Moscow trick" against him.
When I checked on b5 he paused for a few seconds and started to wor...

Two questions about Bb5 lines
I played Bb5 in two recent games, and both of my opponents chose lines that I haven't encountered before:
1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 Nd4!?
I chose 4. Nxd4 cxd4 5. 0-0 on the grounds that this shou...

3..Bd7 or 3..Nd7 in the Moscow
In the line 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.Bb5+
What are the pros/cons of 3..Bd7 and 3..Nd7.
I know 3..Bd7 is the main line but I'm considering saving the bishop and playing 3..Nd7.  Haven't had much ti...

Is 2.Nc3 Nc6 3.Bb5 simply a bit better for White?
What are your opinions on this Anti-Sicilian (1.e4 c5 2.Nc3 Nc6 3.Bb5)?
I have faced this variation a number of times, and lost horribly in nearly every game. There are a few books wh...

Moscow Variation
I play the 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.Bb5 Bd7 4.Bd7 Qd7 line against the Moscow, followed by e6, Be7 and 0-0. However, I always seem to either draw or lose. I feel that Black does not have enough winning chan...

Fed up with the Svesh
So I've decided to play 3.Bb5. After 3...g6, I'm undecided between 4.0-0 and 4.Bxc6. What do you guys think?

Facing 3.Bb5 with 3..g6 and having problems...
I face 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 with ..g6 and try and play the main line (dxc6) as I see it (Rogozenko's). I know of the knight manoeuvres, but the position doesn't really seem very threatening.

Logic of Moscow (2. ...d6 3. Bb5+)
I don't understand the move Bb5+ after 1. e4 c5. 2. Nf3 d6. There won't be any doubled pawns or other serious concession and it actually looks like White loses a tempo while trading off a piece that c...

Is the Bb5 "book" flawed?
After 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.Bb5+ Bd7 4.Bxd7+ Qxd7 5.0-0, the book recommends 5...Nf6 but after 6.Qe2 Nc6 7.c3 e6 8.d4 cxd4 9.cxd4 d5 10.e5 Ng8 it just cites Kasimdzhanov-Topalov 2004, which ended in a dr...
