C45: Scotch 4...Bb4+ 5.c3 Bc5
Hi everyone,
I'm interested in the line 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. Nxd4 Bb4+ 5. c3 Bc5 My problem is that I don't like playing against the Mieses after 4...Nf6 e5. Not that I believe ... Started 10/15/10 at 08:57:15 by Meat « Pages 1 2 all » |

Scotch
Dear All,
Just seen that Emms ' s book on the Scotch is now for sale from the London Chess Centre. I was a bit disappointed that it's a starting out book rather than say a book like Wells.<b... Started 09/26/05 at 07:10:11 by Andrew Brett (Guest) |

This side steppes the Scotch Four Knights proper and the Belgrade. Now isn't that cute? I can see ... Started 03/11/05 at 12:08:22 by CheckMate (Guest) |

Good Scotch update: Dec 2007.
There is a very useful discussion of the Scotch 4...Nf6 in this month's update. It's well worth the price of admission. Thanks, Tony.

C45: Unusual line in the Scotch
In a current tournament I faced this line
1.e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nxc6 bxc6 6. Bd3 d5 So far it's all normal, but I thought the next move was either 7. exd5 or 7. e5 . Instea... Started 08/24/14 at 00:10:33 by RdC |

C45: a6 as an alternative in Scotch: ..Bc5/..Qf6

The Scotch
Hi All
After the moves 1,e4 e5 2,Nf3 Nc6 3,d4 exd4 4,Nxd4 Bc5 5,Nxc6 Qf6 the move 6, Qf3!? seems to be a very annoying move for Black to face. Indeed this move has been recommended in The Scotch ... Started 04/24/10 at 22:21:13 by akita |

What about the scotch???
Hi to all!
I was wondering why people like Nataf, or Sutovsky (ie, attacking players) do play the Scotch. I knox it leads to open positions that might suit them, but, to my understanding, most of... Started 11/07/04 at 04:25:51 by krugman |
