1.d4 d5 2.Fg5 f6 !?
I have a problem in the pseudo-tromp with 1. d4 d5 2. Fg5 f6!? 3. Fh4 Ch6
Eric, could you, please, share with us some of your ideas in this line ? it seems more difficult for White to get go... Started 04/23/04 at 14:12:31 by lemagicien |

Trompowsky repertoire for grabs
It's high time another Trompowsky thread was started from White's viewpoint.
You Trompowskites are getting drowned by the BDG stuff! The Tromp used to be my main opening as White. But the w... Started 03/27/06 at 13:47:44 by Uberdecker |

a line in the trompowsky
1.d4 Nf6 2.Bg5 e6 3.e4 c5
What should be played here? The statistics seems to be extremely bad for white. Started 12/22/06 at 07:22:10 by sssthepro « Pages 1 2 3 all » |

Why don't we see Tromp more
I am playing Trompowsky over 5 years now with good results (80% score, 2000+ rating performance). Just wander why is it not played that much. White gets dynamic positions and is also of wide different...

2. Bg5
This is ever so frustrating for me when i face this after 1. d4 d5. 2...Nf6 runs straight into the swap, which leaves black with problems defending his kingside and centre and a relatively passive gam...

Positional evaluation of Tromp position
1.d4 Nf6 2. Bg5 g6 3. Bxf6 exf6 4.e3 c5 5.dxc5!? Bxc5 6.Nc3
doesn't white have the clear advantage? Black has doubled f-pawns, isolated d-pawn and will not be able to play d5 any time soon (white... Started 08/10/09 at 14:29:51 by MrCookie |

Hodgson Attack
Can anyone enlighten me on how to defend against the Hodgson Attack (d4 d5 Bg5)? I didn't like the prospect of Nf6 allowing doubled pawns, but can't find much else better. Thanks for all the help.<b...

Tromp with 2...e6 3. e4 c5
The interesting move 3... c5 (rather than the main line 3... h6) made me give up the tromp some time ago, especially 3... c5 4. e5 h6 5. Bc1 Nd5 6. c4 Nb4!. This knight move is not covered in Well's b...
