Yep, Subscribers have the right to send email questions to the GMs, and in this case it might be an idea to post the question on the Forum, and send a little email to Glenn to let him know that it is on the Forum, as he might not notice it! Wink
Anyway, I have sent him a little note to inform him.

Michael,

This is a very good question!!

Well, my thoughts on this from the top of my head is to first post a message/question/ideas in this forum so other members can also benefit from the topic as well as to participate and bring some new ideas to discuss.

Then, if the message is not answered by the GM/IM in charge (assuming you clearly mentioned in teh message that you need an answer from GM/IM in addition to other members) in a reasonable time, I would just simply send this topic to his e-mail using the feature of this forum. This way the GM/IM will get teh whole topic and will possible get more attention to it.

To send the topic to a GM/IM, you can just go to that topic and find that button called "Send Topic" and fill in the e-mail of the intended GM/IM. You can find the e-mail of GM/IM from the main website in each section or just simply going to the "Members" section of this forum and check out their e-mails there.

I think it's the best way to get some attention to a specific question/topic from our always busy GM/IMs.

Well, we also need to understand that GM/IMs in addition to being busy with some regular things are also busy playing in the tournament and other important things. So, they can't instantly answer the question.

However, if you think your quetion is very important and valuable to ChessPublishing and its members, keep bugging the GM/IM every way possible Smiley

Well, that's the idea on how to pursue the GM/IM from the perspective if I were just a regular member.

Hope it helps,
Max.

PS: And if you have some serious problems or concerns, you can always contact Tony Kosten who is in charge of ChessPublishing so he is aware of the situation and will be able to help out. You can also post overall concerns in the "Discussion" sub-forum.

Dear Max

As a newish member, I'd like to clarify with you the best/correct way of putting a question to the GM/IM in charge of each section of the site.

As you can see, I recently posted here a question about Owen's Defence. I deliberately did this rather than email Glenn, so as not to add yet another email to the masses I assume he must get, thinking that he'd see my posting and allude to it in his next update if he felt it was of sufficient theoretical and/or general interest. He didn't, and so I'm wondering if I should now mail, or should then have mailed, the question to him direct. (My question seems to me an interesting one, since upon the answer to it the soundness of the whole defence might depend, but then I'm no doubt biased!)

I'd welcome your advice on this. Obviously in posting a question one hopes both to gain some useful knowledge for oneself and to do so in such a way that the response will be seen/commented on by as many others as possible. Can I suggest that you might provide a guide for new site subscribers outlining how all the interactive facilities may best be used?

Best wishes,
Michael Ayton
