Hello!

Thanks a lot for the interesting question. I must admit that the line 9. a3 was covered rather superficially and so tried to correct my omission in the recent July2003 update. Smiley

The line 9. a3 b4 10. Ne4 is the main part of it - you can find some games for 10. ..a5, 10. ..c5 and 10. ..Ne4.

With best regards,
Ruslan

Hi, I have a few questions that I think would merit attention in a future update and would be of interest to other people in this line in the meran line with 8...Bb7 9a3 b4 10Ne4:

1) I know 10...c5 is a line that has been played, though not as much as Nxe4 and a5 maybe...but so what?  Dreev has played it so it is at least worth a look.

I have seen the game Piket-Dreev, Monaco 1996, for example, and would appreciate if this or some other game that followed could be commentated.  Dreev lost that game but his 15th move was supposed to be inaccurate (it went 11Nxf6 gxf6 12O-O cxd4 13 Nxd4 Rg8 14 f3 Bd6 15Qe1 Qb8?!).  15...f5 or 15...bxa3 were suggested in the comments I saw and there are probably other games with those moves.

2) in the a5 line, the move 13...bxa3 is given as leading to a good game for white in the ebook, but the analysis given follows a game Dokhain-Gurevich, which black won, so I would like to know where white went wrong in that game.
