If you had played 24...fxg6 you would have had a winning position!  Instead of drawing by repetition you probably would have won.  I used a search engine to analyze white's move 22.  If he played 22.fxg6 he would have been winning.  But if you were in a tournament and you couldn't lose that particular game I guess drawing would have been fine.  If you could always draw as black and win as white wouldn't you be a GM?

I think you may be right. I guess we were both trying to go for the position arising w/ 16.Bh6!? that we played the first stage without analyzing the move order and the possibilities that arise from a bad transposition of moves. Thanks again for showing me that trap.

I'd like to get back at my original question assuming the position was reached without mistakes in the move order. Do you have an opinion on the game following White's 22nd and 23rd moves?

Hope to learn more!  Cheesy

I wrote the first reply under "David" before I registered for the forum.  Don't feel stupid about it!  I used to always think it was good to play 11.h4 as white until I read the trap in onw of Bruce Pandolfini's books.  Buy the way, 7...Ng4 is probably best in your game considering your opponent didn's play f3 early.  But that is just my opinion.  Good game anyway.  If you find another dragon trap please let me know and respond to "Dragon Traps."  Thanks! Grin

This is my first time on chesspublishing.com and i was glancing at this game.  Isn't 11.h4 a super blunder?  Unless I'm missing something 11. ...Nxd4! wins a piece. 12.Qxd4 Ng4! with a tripple attack on the queen, and both bishops.

Greetings to Chris Ward and everyone on this forum!

I am a recent "convert" to "The Way of the Dragon"  Cheesy Not having to make a living out of chess I always like to go for sharp games. Is it any wonder I got hooked on the Dragon?

I wanted to get your opinion on the following friendly game played about a month back. What do you think of White's continuation on moves 22 and 23? I cannot find anything like it in the databases I could search. I did manage a draw and I guess that's good w/ the Black pieces but I just wonder if there's anything better. After all I like "Winning w/ the Dragon"!!  Wink
