Being white I like 13. b4 here, but Kasparov busted Shirov with 13. ...Qh4!? 14. 00 Rg8 15. f4 Kd8 16 c3 Ra6 17. a4 fxe4 and white did not get much chances.

Yakovich analyses 15 c3 f4 16 Sf6 Qxf6 17 Qxa4 Qg6 18 g3 fxg3 19 fxg3 Qxe4 as unclear. Does somebody know recent games in this variation?

14.Nb6 really isn't in the spirit of the Bishop sacrifice line, since white is releasing the tension in favor of gaining back material immediately.  After 15.Nxa4, white's pieces are badly coordinated, and black has a powerful initiative after moves like 15...Qg5 or 15...Rg8.

"Easy Guide to the Sveshnikov", by J.Aagaard recommends 15...Rg8 (after 12...Ra4 13.Nbc7+ Kd7 14.Nb6+ Kxc7 15.Nxa4).  He gives no variations, however for what it's worth Fritz thinks this is better for Black.  (about .8 of a pawn)

Sorry, my fault. I must've crossed up two lines when I put this into my database.

12...Qa4+ looks better, forcing a knight back to c3.

This line was recently played against me...I looked it up on chessbase.com's database and it shows an overwhelming black advantage.  Can anyone please enlighten me, because it seems that white is doing quite alright in this position?  I played Ba6? and snagged a win (blitz game).  However, should it come up again, it would be nice to have an idea of the better moves in the position.   Embarrassed
