Dear Chessfriends,

Naturally the forum is fun and hopefully stimulating, but the ideas and analysis are not as rigorous as those covered in the updates.
Therefore if you want the best advice that is modified due to recent developments...you know what to do!!

In the Kramnik-Shirov line i a have an interesting novelty:
11.0-0-0! with the idea g2-g4 and a great attack!

I would prefer to discuss this line in the forum rather than suscribe!

Dear Guest,

Actually 3...e5 seems OK, but is not everyone's cup of tea it seems!

I covered this system in a recent update.

Yes it is dangerous, but Black has resources as you'll find out if you subscribe and look at my July 2003 update.

My obvious advice is....subscribe!

Gruenfeld - another dangerous system!

I am a 2200 player and recently met a very rare but maybe dangerous system:

1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 Nf6 3.f3!? d5 the only choice for a Gruenfeld player, e5 is possible but i dont believe in it!
4.cd Nxd5 5.e4 Nb6 6.Nc3 Bg7 7.Be3 0-0 8.Qd2
Now most players choose 8...Nc6 but i think white is better after 9.0-0-0 e5 10.d5 Nd4 11.f4!

Instead the famous game Kramnik-Shirov 1998 (Shirov won and qualified for the match with Kasparov which never took place) continued:
8...e5 9.d5 c6 10.h4 (cd 11.ed N8d7 is an alternative) h5 11.Be2?! but Golod gives 11.Rd1+= in Chessbase
To my big surprise no player repeated his line with black in the last 5 years according to my database! I suppose something is rotten in the state of Denmark. What do other Grunfeld players prefer, 8...Nc6 or 8...e5 ?
