Further to this, I don't have the DVD, but I think he recommends the line (4.Qc2 d5) 5.cxd5 exd5, as played by Short against Kasparov in their World Championship match.

Although I note that Short played 5...Qxd5 at Reykjavik recently (6.Nf3 Qf5!?; 6.e3 c5), and this is a solid option too.

Personally, I would go for 4...c5 5.dxc5 0-0 and play the Hedgehog positions that typically arise from that line.

4...0-0 is OK too, of course, but very theoretical, and these days you have to deal with 5.e4!? (even Karpov is playing this now) as well as the traditional main lines with 5.a3.

Finally, if you are looking for something a little more 'offbeat' it is certainly worth looking at 4...Nc6!?

Probably too many options ... sorry  Undecided

If you play the Nimzo then I recommend Tony Kosten’s video/DVD ‘The Knockout Nimzo” in which he suggests the response 4…d5 against 4.Qc2.

What do you think is Black's most dynamic response to 4. Qc2 in the Nimzo? The main line with 4...0-0 seems to lead to positions where white has a small edge due to his bishop but the position is of course very playable as demonstrated by Leko and Karpov. Possibly the lines with early Ba6 is more dynamic or an early c5 leaving the b file open for the black rook. Possibly 4..d5 or 4...c5 which seem to be relatively unexplored is a better bet if black wants a fighting game. Any thoughts?
