Have you been able to find any games with the setups you mentioned? ???

It looks like to me, that after Bg5 Black can't employ either of these setups without allowing a slight advantage to White as after the first setup, White can set up a center with c4, d5 and e4. I think that then the space advantage definately gives White an advantage.

The second setup looks better, But I think that White's center is better than Black's advantage on the kingside. 

Finally in conclusion, I think that 5 ... a5 is a lot better than what I tfirst thought it was and it probably isn't a wasted tempo, but I think that White can secure a slight advantage

This has been played before. Just do a search for this on any database to find a good number of games. However, I don't understand how this is just as good as c5. Black is probably going to want to play c5 eventually, so nthis is just a wasted tempo.
