I just bought Palliser’s "Play 1. d4!" today with the intention of working the book (especially the Queen’s Gambit lines) into my repertoire.  I think I would like to keep the Torre Attack vs. some Indian systems.  This shouldn't be too difficult because Palliser uses an early Nf3 in most of his lines.  I would easily transpose to his Queen’s Gambit lines by the 3rd move if black plays any defenses with an early d5.

Burgess' excellent book "The gambit guide to the Torre attack" notes that the Torre is effective against the Queen's Indian response.  Thus, it would appear I could simply skip Palliser's 'Chapter 5' on the Queen's Indian / Bogo-Indian systems.  Are Palliser’s recommendations any better than the Torre system I already know and love?

Burgess makes the case that the Torre isn’t that great vs. the KID and Grunfeld.  I intend to transpose into Palliser’s lines by move 5.  Do you see any move order problems here?

Unfortunately, playing for the Torre can allow black to play a Dutch Stonewall with my knight on f3.  In Gary Lane’s “Ideas behind the Modern chess Openings" he proposes a dutch system with d4, Nf3, g3 and Bg2.  By not committing the early Nc3, he leaves the c4 pawn advance available vs the StoneWall.  This is a practical blessing because it allows for many transpositions from Palliser’s queen’s gambit. Are these systems any good?
