Since the first game of the match Kasparov-Miles, Basel 1986, the Czech Benoni is out of favour. My database gives about 300 games since 1986 on a level of ELO 2400 and higher. White's score is almost 70%. OK, as an adherent of the Iljin Genewsky I know these statistics say nothing.
After 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 c5 3.d5 e5 4.Nc3 d6 5.e4 Be7 6.Nf3 o-o 7.h3 White's score is even 79% (ELO 2400+) and somehow that does not feel good. What strikes me most, is that there are relatively few Black wins.

The book had the effect good books usually have: it made the stupids more stupid, the intelligent more intelligent and the other thousands of readers remained unchanged.

What do you mean with Old Benoni?
A) Czech Benoni 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 c5 3.d5 e5 and the bishop goes to e7;
B) Benoni Wall 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 c5 3.d5 e5 and the bishop goes to g7;
C) Marshall Benoni 1.d4 Nf6 2.c5 c5 3.d5 d6 4.Nc3 g6 and Black decides later to play e6 or e5;
D) Schmidt Benoni 1.d4 c5 2.d5 Nf6

The book had the effect good books usually have: it made the stupids more stupid, the intelligent more intelligent and the other thousands of readers remained unchanged.

Hello!
This question is already a famous one for different openings. I wonder that the Old Benoni hasn't been discussed yet.
Some weeks before i included the Old Benoni in my repertoire as my main defense against 1d4.
I like these closed positions and i like 'unusual' openings.
Why doesn't anybody play the Old Benoni?
What variations are considered the most dangerous?

I would be glad about some thoughts and answers!
Thank you!
Looking forward!
