Try cutting and pasting it into a game in CB8 or CB9 (Fritz may work too) and all the symbols turn out ok.

Or is that too hard?

Here's some analysis I did a while ago for you all to chew on and improve.  Let the analysis of this great line begin!

Yeah, I'm always happy when I come out of the opening with $44 -- that way I have a little something extra compared to $43.

7.Qe2 is the acid test, I believe and then Black chooses between 7...Bd6 and 7...Be7.  I am inclined to the latter as I am not sure about the line 7...Bd6 8.Nc3 0-0 9.Bxd7 Qxd7 10.Nge4!?

On the other hand, 7...Be7 leaves the e-pawn undefended - although I have yet to find a line where White can really contemplate taking it.

Its the line I play against the Two Knights. I've only played it once in the last four seasons, and I went on to win the game. After 7.Bxd7 black gets a pretty comfortable position.

Greetings,

I discovered this line in NIC YB 56. Pinski in his book "The Two Knights Defence" (pg 32) describes it as "underestimated".   I have played it several times in blitz vs a master and achieved reasonable positions.  I didn't win any games, but....   I  have succumbed to the Ulvestad variation for OTB play.

Your Humble Servant,

Bilbo

Does anybody have any experience/opinion on this sequence?  Watson likes it, and it has the enormous advantage of not being very well known ... and that the most natural move to someone who doesn't know anything about it, 7.Bxd7†?!, is inferior.

I had always assumed there was some sort of bust to it, but if so I can't see it.
