Hi Lost highway!

Yes, 14.Nd5 maybe better 15.. O-O 15.O-O with ideas like: a4, c3, Qb3, Rfd1 etc.

but i wanted to play 14.Qd5 O-O 15.O-O-O or 15.Ne4 (first) and then 16.O-O-O ... thinking about g4-g5-f6 etc... with inicitive.

Bye!

Daniel -

Why did you not play 14.Nxd5 in your 1997 game?  It looks better than 14.Qxd5.  After 14.Qxd5, instead of wasting time with 14...Rc8, black could have played 14...O-O and the position would have been roughly equal.  However, 14.Nxd5 O-O 15.O-O looks a lot better for white, with Re1 coming up soon, and possibly Qh5, etc.

You're wellcome!

I it was a great year ... 1994 I was 19 ... and an a month after in Andorra, I have beaten Komljenovic (GM)... well...this another history...

The line is very bad... I don't know why a IM could play this line... but... Kuijf usually plays dubious lines, and the game shows you he didn't improve the line, ... so he didn't play it again!

That's all!

bye!

Daniel_Boix,

Congrats on drawing an IM!  Yes, this line does look really bad for Black, but that begs the question:  why would an IM play it in a serious game?  I don't know that answer.

HI!

Very bad line for black of course!

Please, don't try to play it!! Serious strategical mistake...

in 1994 Boix (me) - Kuijf (IM)

The moves:

1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cd 4.Nd4 e5 5.Bb5+ Nd7 6.Nf5 a6 7.Ba4 b5 8.Bb3 Nb6 9.Nc3 Bf5 10.ef5 Nf6 11.Bg5 Be7 12.Bf6 Bf6 and now i played 13.Nd5 and draw after 55 moves (total).

but... in 1997 in the game Boix - Franch (in Barcelona),

I played 13.Bd5! (N) Nd5 14.Qd5 Rc8 15.Ne4 O-O 16.O-O-O! Bg5+ 17.Kb1 Dc7? (desesperation)
18.Ng5 Qc2+ 19.Ka1 Qf2 20.Ne4 Qe2 21.Rhe1 Qh5 22.f6! Rc2 23.Qd6 h6 24.Qf8+! 1:0

Bye!

well. I mean you'd have to work out the details, but I think black is already in trouble after 5. Bb5+ Nd7 6. Nf5 a6 7. Ba4 b5 8. Bb3 when I have a feeling all those pawn moves with no development will not prove particularly effective as white can castle quickly then break with a4 among other plans

Also 7 Bxd7 Qxd7 and 8 Nc3/Ne3 look both good as well.

If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through.

Somebody here knows about the rare line 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cd 4. Nxd4 e5!?

Yet another ... e5 Sicilian!

My first impression was that white gets the advantage by 5. Bb5+ but things are not so simple after 5. ... Nd7. What do you think is white's best move here?

5. Bb5+
5. Nb5 (unlogical methinks when ... d6 is already played)
5. Nb3
5. Nf3

What is the variation's worth? To me it seems pretty solid.
