I just saw two DVDs at a local discount bookstore.  I was going to buy them, but the names were confusing.

"Volume 1, Series 2"

and

"Volume 2, Series 3"

This is utterly bizarre.  For starters, where is Series 1?  And where is Volume 1 of Series 3?  I resisted buying them on the spot because I wasn't sure how many there were altogether, and I wasn't sure I wanted to have holes in my collection.

Looking on the ChessBase site, it appears that these are indeed the only two DVDs issued so far on the Najdorf, so I'll go back later today and pick them up.  I'm hopeful that they are a good value at half-price.

I have the dvd and love it. The variations you are looking for are not there because it is volume one. He is planing to continue his Najdorf Series. For a while yet/ He still hasto cover the english attack which is all the rage these days. I prefer the Bg5 lines my self but not  every one is up for the challange of a more theoretical game.  Tongue But the DVD is worth the money for any one who wants an insight on this mans view ofa system. The ideas are well presented. For those of you who are just thinking about the Najdorf Its not time to buy this yet. Its a big choice to play this or some other defence. As Kasparov says If you are worried about your king being in the center choose other openings. I am not worried about this as i like the idea of the great counter play to come later. This is important to consider as well. The Najdorf acording to classical principles is unsound. If we were playing this type of chess back when Steinitz and Tarrasch were around we wouldbe tossed out of chess circles every where. Both white and black make moves which are not comforming to the classical principles but it is not hypermodern in character. Its just odd but also thankfully dynamic.

I liked although is less value than a good book. But more enjoyable.

Kasparov is focusing only in some 6.Bg5 lines. Some of the stuff only historical interest, many, many variations not covered. As Kasparov says: get a Database, switch on your computer programs and explore...

The database is just the Najdorf games of Mega2005

It would take a brave man indeed to give Kasparov a bad review, But I find as Semprun says a good book is always better value for money.

Maybe Kaspy will write a Najdorf book sometime in the near future, and perhaps one on the KID.

I received this DVD today. For average Najdorf player, it is very usefull. For advanced players, it offers some useful information and some very important general ideas. Btw, the Chessbase Opening Encyclopedia suck donkey balls. I cannot open a single opening survey so there is only a shitload of games (about 99& without comments)  Undecided

The real question is whether it is worth the money or not. I have nothing newer than mco-14, nco and the two nunn najdorf books.  Is it more current than this and does it offer ideas as opposed to moves?

I had a look at the Najdorf DVD. While I found Kasparov's lecture very entertaining, I have some problems with the DVD. Kasparov is frequently refering to the detailed comments in the games. However, the games on the DVD do not seem to contain any comments or variations. Also, at one points Kasparov refers to the upcoming analysis of the Najdorf mainline with Bg5 e6 f4 Be7 which I also could not find on the DVD. Is the DVD incomplete, or am I missing something?

Has anyone checked this out.  Carsten Hansen gave his Queens Gambit DVD full marks on Chesscafe and I was wondering if anyone picked up his new Najdorf DVD.  Thanks
