Does this get white anywhere? I used to play this but after getting nowhere in several lines I switch to 3.d4 lines where I grab a pawn for the bishop pair. Recently however, I read of the idea of castling queenside in some 5. c4 lines that weren't promising white much. Given that several of these lines have assymmetric pawn structures they might offer more chances to outplay an opponent. Consequently, I'm very interested to see just how good the best lines for white are.

5...d5 6.Nc3! looks like it forces Nf6 and after d4 we have an exchange French <yawn> where white is a tempo up <weee!>

5...c6 6.Nc3 Nxc3 6.dxc3 White's doubled queenside pawn hold back the d6 pawn as a target.

The question is can white get away with

5..Nc6 Nc3 6.Nxc3 dxc3 with the idea of queenside castling?
