Mmm... Florida! Certainly sounds more enticing than playing chess in rainy old Britain!

Watson may well be right; flicking in ...a6 before ...Qh4 can be more flexible so long as you're happy with both retreats; that way you know where the white light-square B is retreating to before moving the queen.
In the MML: 7 h3 a6 8 a4 Qe7 is still fine for Black as Suba's games show; 7 e4 a6 8 Qe2 could be more problematic though!

In the ...Qh4+ line of the Taimanov, I think both ...Qd8 and ...Qe7 are playable. I seem to recall that Watson in his book on the Benoni, recommended ...Qe7 against non-Bd3 retreat systems (after you play ...a6, kicking the Bb5) and ...Qd8 against Bd3. Not sure what the current status of that line is.

The main line where you allow Bd3 and h3 isn't too bad for Black. I think White gets the usual tiny opening advantage, and importantly, there is still a lot of game left in the position. If you want to try and stop this, you can try 7.h3 a6 8.a4 Qe7. The immediate 7...Qe7 doesn't stop 8.e4 as if 8...Nxe4, 9.Qa4+ wins the knight.

Great site (not the dragon but what the hell) 2 questions 1. In the qh4 ch line of the taimanov variation of benoni is the retreat qd8 or qe7 better these days. 2. In the classical what is blacks best against early h3 ie d4 nf6 c4 c5 d5 e6 nc3 ed cd nf3 d6 h3on move 7 in an attempt to get bd3 in. Is main line best or early qe7 thanks eric moskow usa
