The position you describe is not an endgame, despite the queens being traded off.  If either side were to try to play it like an endgame, they'd probably lose in the middlegame with their king stuck in the center.

Who knows exactly... There's also 6...Bd6, which Yrjölä and Tella recommend and they seem to think that black has a stable position, while white has a certain initiative. Well, to be honest unless white finds some great tactical surprise that is probably the assessment of most similar endgame positions.

Undecided Is the Lion/Philidor endgame after .e4 d6 2.d4 Nf6 3.Nc3 e5 4.dxe5 dxe5 5.Qxd8 Kxd8 really innocous for black...I have been looking at 6.Bg5  and have encountered  both 6...Be6(supposedly best) and 6...h6!?(maybe ?!)..any comments??
